How the foundations of wellness helped me walk through one of the hardest seasons of my life
Yes, I’ve been quiet for a while. Life had other plans.
After a challenging health diagnosis, one surgery turned into three, and then five. In the span of 18 months, I faced eight anesthetics and a season that forced me to slow down. Healing became my full-time job.
But in the stillness and the discomfort, I saw something beautiful: the very health principles I’d built my life around—my mindset, my gut health, my food choices, my gentle routines, my relationships—became my lifeline. They didn’t just work in theory; they became my reality. And I’m more convinced than ever: true wellness is body, mind, and soul.
If there’s one thing I learned quickly, it’s this—how I thought about my situation shaped how I walked through it.
I could either see my body as failing me or see it as fighting to heal. I could spiral into frustration or practice gratitude for every small step forward.
The days I chose to speak life over myself—those were the days I felt stronger, more hopeful, and more present.
I’m so grateful I had invested in my gut health before this season hit. I truly believe it played a huge role in my quicker recovery and better energy in the middle of everything.
Your gut affects more than digestion—it's key to your immune system, hormones, mental clarity, and resilience.
Taking care of it gave me strength when I needed it most.
This season didn’t look like “wellness” from the outside. Some days were slow, messy, and imperfect.
But instead of guilt, I chose grace. Because…
Health isn’t a checklist. It’s compassion for your body—even when it’s not cooperating.
I was reminded again: we don’t heal in isolation.
It was friends bringing meals, checking in, encouraging, and supporting. Those moments were healing.
Wellness isn’t just what’s on your plate—it’s who’s at your table.
Everything in me wanted to bounce back. But my body whispered, not yet.
So I walked. Stretched. Breathed. Moved slowly and kindly.
Gentle movement became my most powerful healing tool.
I started each morning by regulating my nervous system—breathing, speaking life, calming my mind.
The difference was undeniable.
What you say over yourself first thing in the morning sets the tone for the whole day.
Even when I felt weak, when my body didn’t cooperate, when things were removed or changed, my value didn’t budge.
I am still purposed. Still worthy. Still uniquely me.
This truth became the anchor I held onto.
